Multimedia Tools
Multimedia is an excellent tool to utilize when adding content to a website or blog for a company or organization of any capacity. Having a website without it would be similar to "a cupcake without icing: functional but lacking" (Sniderman, 2010). In today's society, using multimedia on any type of web-page has become the norm (Sniderman, 2010).
Multimedia enhances our messaging by adding visual interest to the information conveyed to make it more compelling, informative, and memorable. Multimedia refers to a combination of photo galleries, slideshows, video, audio, animation, and any other form of content with interactive features (Rutgers, 2014). With these elements in-tact, any website can provide a user with a more exciting and dynamic web experience (Rutgers, 2014). The key multimedia technique to use, as with a number of things in life, is moderation (Rutgers, 2014). Creating a website with a lot of bells and whistles is tolerable, but the sites that exercise the most restraint with multimedia technologies are usually the ones that are most effective (Rutgers, 2014).

Best Practices For Blogs
Tonight, I've taken a step out of the norm of my usual blog, Blogger, to see what else is out there in the world to voice my individualism. Needless to say, I found an abundance of options! There's blogs for corporate, personal or diary, hobby or, interest, professional, or for communal use. The challenge issued was to find a blog that had the essential functions to post forms of writing and information delivery. I found this particular platform in the blog titled, Tmblr.
Tmblr is one of the absolute best when it comes to visuals, combined with content, to enhance your personal blog's presence. You have the option of images, unlimited and unrestricted content, videos, and also music. After your entertainment palate has been satisfied you have the ability to post any type of content desired. It can be as informative, vague, or as simple as you wish. There aren't any prerequisites for content, therefore the user determines what will or won't be posted on their particular blog.
The best practices that are present when creating a blog involve illustrating appropriate form, function, and substance by establishing authority, content, style, frequency, engagement, and posting at the right time. Does Tmblr offer these options? Absolutely! With Tmblr, individuals have the ability to self-host their particular blog, making it an extension of their chosen profession, which creates authority for that content.
Establishing content is always a challenging task. The author must stay creative, while also imagining what his followers would like to see, what information would aid in successful use of a particular product, what would make life easier, or simply what would keep them entertained. These characteristics and their solutions can be found through competitors' sites, social conversations, inbound Q&A's, and other feedback channels. With a plethora of options available, there will always be avenues to create meaningful and useful content.
Next, there's style. Here's where an individual gets to develop the brand's voice. Choices of the brand's voice will be intentional, and once it's determined, it must be adhered to at all times. Individual authors and individual posts may have a different tone, but they should never deviate from the brand voice. It may appear that this strategy has restrictions, but it's all done to make content easier to create. Content creation becomes that much easier because there's already a brand persona when approaching a particular topic or situation.
After style, there's frequency. Starting a blog and not maintaining the effort is disheartening to an individual's particular following. Strides should be made and communicated to your audience to establish an attainable set schedule in which blogs will be posted. This way your audience will have established expectations with your posts and won't be deterred by your absence.
Now comes the engagement. Being involved with your following through comments and conversations is where the real magic happens. It is within this forum that you can establish your fundamental truths to your blog; be respectful, prompt, honest, and personable. Additionally, creating a "reader's bill of rights" would also outline the standards in your blog community. Not only will this standard keep you honest, but it will also instill fairness and faith amongst your audience.
Finally, there's the timing. Find out the best time of day for your blogging following to receive and share your content. Experimenting with different times of day will give you a concrete idea of the "optimal" time your content can be received. Being attentive to industry happenings, news, and other major events will ensure you have your community's undivided attention in regards to your posts as well.
After listing these "best practices" for what makes a good blog, it's evident that Tmblr can serve as your indispensable blog to create a forum for writing and information delivery. You have other options, but none are as entertaining, and informative as Tmblr...

Legendary Penn State Coach, Joe Paterno, passed on at 85
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Lung Cancer Has Taken Its Toll And Finally Taken A Legend
State College, PA - January 22, 2012 - NCAA Division I's all-time winningest coach, the legendary Penn State coach Joe Paterno, has passed at the age of 85 due to lung cancer.
Paterno built his legacy at Penn State University on the principle of "Success with Honor." During his tenure at PSU, winning 409 games, taking the Nittany Lions to 37 bowl games, winning two national championships, coaching more than 250 players that went on to the NFL, and having an everlasting impression on his former players, he solidified attaining both.
Though his firing amid a child sex abuse scandal will likely scar his reputation for winning with integrity, the void left from his presence and existence in college football is irreplaceable.
"JoePa," as his players affectionately called him, was a man devoted to his family, his university, his players, and his community. With such admiration created by his actions, it is with great sadness to announce the death of this renowned figure in our society.
Paterno passed Sunday, at Nittany Medical Center at 9:25 a.m. with his closest family members at his side.
